Mazzamurru

Mazzamurru

Mazzamurru, Sardinian bread and tomato lasagne, is an incredibly easy and actually budget friendly dish to prepare – and one of the tastiest dishes of Sardinian cuisine. It’s a great way to use leftover ingredients such as bread and tomato sauce, but just as nice to make it from scratch – as long as you use stale bread.

Ingredients

  • For 4 people:

  • Semolina bread stale 350 gr

  • ripe tomatoes 400g

  • 1 onion

  • pecorino cheese 80 gr

  • 4 tablespoons olive oil

  • fresh basil

  • salt.

PREPARATION

  1. Blanch the tomatoes in boiling water, then try them in the skin, seeds and water vegetation.

  2. In a pan fry the sliced onion and when browned, add the tomatoes, salt, pepper and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring often. At the end add the basil leaves spezzettae.

  3. Separately, cut the slices of bread for a few seconds you will put in plenty of boiling salted water.

  4. In a pan pour a layer of tomatoes, sprinkle with grated cheese and cover with slices of bread well drained; Another cover with tomato sauce and grated cheese and continue another until all the ingredients ending with tomato and grated cheese.
