For the caramel base

1 and ½ cups of white sugar

2 tbsp unsalted butter
For the cake

2 apples, cored and peeled

1 cup soft cream cheese

½ cup milk

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup sugar

2 cups all-purpose flour

3 tsp baking powder
-
1 tsp baking soda
-
1 tsp cinnamon powder
-
¾ cup walnuts or pecan nuts for garnish
For the sauce

1 cup heavy cream or whipping cream
-
¼ cup maple syrup
-
2 tbsp butter
-
½ cup brown sugar
-
1 cup apple cider
-
¼ tsp salt
-
½ tsp cinnamon
-
¼ tsp allspice
Directions
Cake

Turn oven to 350F.

Cut the apples in fine wedges and arrange over the caramel in the cake mold..

Whisk the cream cheese, milk, eggs, the vanilla extract, and the sugar, then sift in the flour, the baking powder, the baking soda and the cinnamon, mixing to combine.

Pour the batter over the mold and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a wooden toothpick comes out clean.

Let cool down and un-mold.
Sauce

Combine ingredients in a saucepan and cook over high heat until the sugar dissolves, reduce the heat to medium and cook 10 minutes – until it reduces and gets syrupy. Let cool and pour over previously cooled cake and decorate with the nuts
