Easy Berry Crostata Recipe, a Delicious Italian Tart
Easy Berry Crostata Recipe, a Delicious Italian Tart
Some desserts never go out of style–like classic crostata, an Italian pie covered with cream or jam, in this case of berries.
Instructions
-
Whisk softened butter and sugar until soft and creamy, by hand or in a little food processor.
-
In a medium bowl, sift together the flour and salt, then add them to the butter-and-sugar mixture.
-
Add the egg too and whisk.
-
Knead quickly with your hands, create a ball and leave to rest in the refrigerator for an hour.
-
After this time, roll out the dough on a floured surface and create a disk about 4 mm thick.
-
Roll the dough onto the rolling pin and unroll over a 5-inch round or square tart pan.
-
Prick the pasta with a fork, trim the edges with the tips of the fingers and spread the jam inside.
-
If you have some leftover dough, make strips using a toothed wheel and cross them on the jam to form the classic grid.
-
Press the ends with the fingers to seal them.
-
Alternatively you can cover the pie with some fresh berries (image).
-
Sprinkle the surface of the tart with brown sugar and bake at 80 °F in a conventional non-fanned oven for about 25 minutes.
