I remember pickled mushrooms. They were usually little, brown and really delicious. Just another wonderful food that we as Italians would regularly enjoy.
Back in the day many people picked their own mushrooms and then dropped a silver quarter into the water to insure that they weren’t poisonous. This didn’t always work and sometimes people died. Today mushrooms are cultivated commercially and when purchased at the grocer that worry no longer exists.
