Shrimp Fra Diavolo



Serves 4

  • 1 pound of medium sized shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 red bell pepper chopped
  • 1/2 green bell pepper chopped
  • 1 bunch of long green onions chopped
  • 1 carrot chopped
  • 1 stalk of celery chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic chopped
  • 3 Tbls of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbls of butter
  • 1 tsp of crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 28oz can of diced plum tomatoes
  • 1 8oz can of tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp of dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 tsp of fresh ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup of chopped parsley
  • 1 pound of penne pasta or bow tie or spaghetti


  1. In a large frying pan sauté bell peppers, onions, carrots, celery and garlic in olive oil and butter for around ten minutes until tender.
  2. Toss in shrimp for around 5 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle in salt, pepper and red pepper flakes.
  4. Add tomatoes and tomato sauce.
  5. Sprinkle in the oregano.
  6. Fill a large pot with around 6 quarts of water and cook pasta until al dente. Around 10 minutes.
  7. Plate the pasta and pour the shrimp mixture over the penne.
  8. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and your ready to serve.
