INGREDIENTS

TIME Active Prep: 15 min Cook: 15 min

For donuts:

  • 2 Tbsp. melted butter, divided

  • 1 apple, peeled, cored, and minced

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp. baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp. Baking Spice

  • 1/4 tsp. Kosher Salt

  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1/2 tsp. Pure Madagascar Vanilla Extract

For glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2 Tbsp. milk

  • Spiced Vanilla Bean Sugar, to sprinkle

DIRECTIONS

For donuts:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Add 1 Tbsp. butter to a small pot along with minced apple. Cook over medium heat until soft, about 5 min.

  3. Meanwhile, combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Whisk wet ingredients (including the remaining 1 Tbsp. melted butter) together in a separate bowl. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and whisk until a thick batter forms.

  4. Fold in cooked apples. Spoon batter into a greased 6-cavity doughnut pan, filling each mold about three-quarters of the way full.

  5. Bake for 10 min., or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  6. Let doughnuts cool completely before glazing.

For glaze:

  1. Whisk milk and powdered sugar until mixture is smooth.

  2. Drizzle over donuts or gently dip the top of each one into the glaze. For a thicker coating, allow the glaze to dry and dip again.

  3. Sprinkle generously with Spiced Vanilla Bean Sugar.
