Cabbage with sausage


for 4 people:

  • 1 cabbage about 750 gr

  • potatoes 500 gr

  • 1 liter of broth, hot

  • bacon 200g

  • 1 onion

  • pork sausage 250 gr

  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds

  • olive oil

  • salt.


  1. Clean the cabbage, cut into four pieces and remove the core, then wash it and cut it into strips.

  2. Peel the potatoes, wash and cut into slices.

  3. Arrange the potatoes and cabbage in a saucepan, add the hot broth, season with salt and sprinkle with caraway seeds then simmer with a lid and heat for 45 minutes.

  4. Meanwhile, peel the onion and cut into slices, cut the bacon into cubes and brown bacon in a pan with a little olive oil for about 3 minutes, then add the onion and cook for 3 more minutes.

  5. Peel and crumble the sausage then add to the pan with the bacon and onion and cook for 4 minutes.

  6. If necessary, add more salt to the cooking cabbage then place it in a bowl and pour over the hot onions, sausage and bacon sauce.

Serve hot.
