Castagnaccio (Chestnut cake)


For 4 people:

  • Chestnut flour 300g

  • 80g of sultanas

  • 50g of pine nuts

  • ¼ liter of milk

  • ¼ liter of water

  • 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

  • salt.


  1. Put to soak the raisins in warm water, then drain and squeeze them.

  2. Pour into a bowl the chestnut flour and mix with a pinch of salt, then gradually add the milk and water and stir constantly to prevent forming of lumps.

  3. Grease a baking pan with oil, heat for a few seconds on the stove and then pour in the flour and milk mixture.

  4. Complete pouring on the surface the mi of raisins and pine nuts and sprinkle it lightly with a little ‘oil, finally put in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about half an hour.

  5. Serve cold.
